Tethered – this type of charger has the cable permanently attached. A tethered charger is usually much more convenient as you can just park up of a night and plug in. As the cable is permanently attached there is no way you can lose the cable. The downside is that tethered cable cannot be upgraded if needed.

Untethered – this type of charger usually looks neater as the cable can be stored away in your vehicle or home. Untethered cables can be upgraded without the need for a new charging point. Untethered cables are usually a little cheaper too.

Summary – if you want to just plug straight in when you return home from a hard day’s work, I would probably recommend a tethered cable. If however you don’t like the look of cables outside your home, I would consider an untethered charger.
